Went for my annual inspection last week and got sent back because apparently my tint is too dark to pass, which I didn’t even realise was a thing they checked that strictly. The annoying part is I got it done at a shop that assured me it was “well within the limit” so now I’m stuck either peeling it off or paying to redo it lighter. I’ve been trying to understand how the measurement actually works and whether it’s the visible light percentage or something else, because the rules here aren’t exactly explained clearly anywhere. Someone told me to visit this website to see what films are compliant before I spend money again, which makes sense since I clearly got bad advice the first time. Has anyone else failed inspection over tint and had to redo it? I want to make sure the second attempt is actually legal and not just whatever the next shop decides to tell me.
