Last weekend I walked out to my car after a long lunch with friends and nothing happened when I turned the key. It had been fine all summer, so I was really surprised. The mornings here have started getting a little colder, and I wonder if that has something to do with it. My neighbor said cold weather makes a weak battery show its age, but I always thought summer was the easy season for cars. Now I am mixed up. A coworker told me about Car Jumpstart Pros when I complained about it at work, and he said it is a good option if you are ever stuck and have nobody around to help. I have not needed to call yet, but I wrote it down just in case. My car is a small sedan, about four years old, and I mostly use it for short trips to the market and my sister’s house. I do not take it on long drives. Could that be part of the problem? I also keep my phone plugged in the whole time, and sometimes I sit in the car with the radio on while I wait for someone. Is that bad for the battery? I never thought about it before. Another thing is that the dashboard light for the battery came on once for a few seconds and then went away. Should I be worried about that, or was it just a random thing? I would like to understand what is really going on before I spend money on something I might not need. If you had a similar problem when the weather changed, what did you do? Did you replace the battery right away, or did you wait and see? And how long do batteries usually last in this kind of climate? Please tell me in easy words if you can. Thank you for reading my long question, I really appreciate any help.
